We are looking for three Family Support Workers to support a new school-linked whole family wellbeing project for young people aged 12–18 affected by drug and alcohol use, and their parents or carers.

n

Working with secondary schools, Youth Services, LIBRA and partner agencies, you will provide early, practical and relationship-based support before concerns escalate to crisis or statutory thresholds. The work will be voluntary, trauma-informed, strengths-based and focused on reducing harm, improving wellbeing and strengthening family relationships.

Location: Aberdeenshire, with a focus on Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Portlethen and Stonehaven school communities

The post holder willn • Provide one-to-one support to young people where drug or alcohol use is affecting wellbeing, attendance, relationships, behaviour or safety.n • Work with parents and carers to improve understanding, communication, confidence and harm reduction.n • Build effective working relationships with schools and respond to referrals in a timely and proportionate way.n • Support young people and families to identify goals, reduce risk and access wider community support.n • Contribute to partnership working, outcome monitoring and service learning.n This post would suit someone who hasn • Experience of working with young people, families or vulnerable groups.n • An understanding of how substance use can affect young people, families and communities.n • A calm, non-judgemental and relationship-based approach.n • Good communication skills and the ability to build trust with young people, parents, carers and professionals.n • Confidence working flexibly across school, family and community settings.
