Overview
In this role you will lead technical evaluations of upstream oil and gas assets and support transaction execution within a growing energy investment banking franchise. You’ll act as a trusted technical advisor alongside bankers on acquisitions, divestitures, and capital-raising mandates, shaping recommendations for clients across international markets. The position combines deep reservoir expertise with strategic advisory in a cross-functional, high-impact environment. You’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders and help drive the growth of Scotiabank’s energy franchise, delivering value through rigorous technical insight.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical evaluations of upstream oil & gas assets, including reserves estimation, production forecasting, facilities, risk assessment and development planning.
- Lead reservoir engineering workstreams across buy-side and sell-side transactions, providing technical insight to support valuation and execution.
- Review and validate technical marketing materials, management presentations and data room content.
- Present technical analyses and recommendations to clients, investors and prospective buyers.
- Support business development initiatives, client pitches and origination activities across the Energy sector.
- Screen and evaluate acquisition and divestiture opportunities, identifying key risks and value drivers.
- Partner with Investment Banking and Corporate Finance teams to deliver high-quality technical and strategic advice to clients.
Key requirements
- Experienced reservoir engineer with exposure to upstream oil & gas assets and related transactions.
- Ability to evaluate reservoir models and present insights to clients and boards.
