Overview
As a Structural Design Engineer, you will contribute to tunnelling and underground projects from feasibility to detailed design. You’ll work within a growing team at a Doncaster head office, supporting early contractor involvement and client-facing delivery. Your work will involve theory-to-practice design, third-party approvals, and clear reporting to stakeholders. This role offers career progression across a pipeline of major UK projects in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
- Complete structural calculations, options reviews and detailed designs for tunnelling and underground structures
- Coordinate and manage third-party approvals with Network Rail, CRT, National Highways
- Conduct feasibility studies and options reviews to inform design decisions
- Ensure compliance with UK design codes and industry standards
- Prepare client-facing reports and communications
Key requirements
- Relevant engineering degree (BEng, MEng, MSc) in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Knowledge of UK design codes and standards (Eurocodes, BS, CDM)
- Experience with UK third-party approval processes (Network Rail, CRT, National Highways)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, PLAXIS, WALLAP or similar tools
- Strong problem-solving attitude and work ethic, client relationship skills
- Chartered status (CEng ICE or IStructE) desirable
