Head of Data and Analytics

Overview

As Head of Data Engineering and Analytics, you will lead the data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence function to translate enterprise data strategy into reliable, scalable delivery. You work with cross-functional partners to build trusted data platforms, pipelines, models, and analytics products that enable operational decisions, client services, and AI-ready use cases. You will set engineering standards, prioritise demand, and run a high-performing, globally distributed delivery team. This role combines technical leadership with business engagement to drive measurable value for the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Manage design, development, operation, and continuous improvement of data platforms, data warehouse, pipelines, semantic models, reporting, and analytics services
• Translate global data strategy into an executable engineering and analytics roadmap aligned with business priorities
• Establish and enforce engineering standards across design, coding, testing, release, observability, security, and cost efficiency
• Create trusted reusable data products and common datasets to support enterprise reporting, client insights, digital services, and AI-ready use cases
• Oversee intake, prioritisation, and delivery of engineering, BI, and analytics demand balancing strategic change with BAU
• Partner with governance, architecture, security, digital product, IT operations, and business leaders to embed quality, lineage, privacy, retention, and regulatory requirements by design
• Lead, develop, and organize a high-performing team of data engineers, BI developers, analysts, and delivery partners with an effective right-shored model
• Manage strategic suppliers and technology partners with clear accountability for quality, pace, service performance, knowledge transfer, and value for money
• Act as senior technical authority for data engineering and analytics, advising, removing blockers, and communicating complex topics to senior stakeholders

Key requirements

• Significant leadership experience in enterprise data engineering, data platforms, BI, analytics, or related disciplines in a global setting
• Proven delivery of modern cloud-based data platforms, data lakes/warehouses, pipelines, semantic models, and analytics solutions
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft data and analytics ecosystem (Azure, SQL, Power BI); AI, ML, IoT, and Oracle environments advantageous
• Experience establishing engineering standards, DevSecOps, automated testing, monitoring, data quality controls, and reliable production support
• Experience managing blended onshore/offshore/supplier teams with clear accountability for outcomes and service performance
• Ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions and communicate with senior stakeholders
• Experience with enterprise systems (ERP, HR, CRM, finance, project delivery); construction/consulting/professional services experience beneficial
