Overview

In this role you will lead procurement across a major infrastructure programme, shaping strategies, managing supplier workstreams, and ensuring on-time, compliant delivery. You will collaborate with stakeholders and the Commercial team to control costs and provide decision-ready data. Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of procurement projects within a major infrastructure programme to ensure timely, compliant delivery and value
  • Conduct supplier selection, tendering, and commercial negotiations in line with the Procurement Act 2023 and internal governance
  • Develop market and category insight to shape effective procurement strategies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and the Commercial team to manage risk and costs and keep projects on track
  • Provide clear data and reporting to support decision-making and programme visibility
  • Support post-award contract management and supplier transitions where needed
  • Mentor colleagues and share best practices to strengthen procurement capability across the programme

Key requirements

  • Strong track record delivering procurement strategies within major infrastructure, construction, or capital delivery environments
  • Solid understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 (or PCR2015/UCR2016) and wider procurement legislation
  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement or commercial roles with strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking
  • Hands-on experience with NEC4-based procurement and commercial frameworks
  • Confident in managing multiple complex projects with solid planning and project management skills
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead negotiations
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 for analysis, reporting, and decision support
  • CIPS Level 5 (MCIPS preferred) or a relevant degree in procurement, supply chain, or commercial studies
  • Experience in Utilities or regulated sector is advantageous
