Overview
In this role you will plan, manage and deliver procurement activities across a major infrastructure programme. You will work closely with commercial, project and stakeholder teams to develop strategies, lead tendering and negotiations, and ensure timely procurement aligned with governance and legislation. You will manage multiple procurement projects, drive continuous improvement, and mentor junior colleagues. Responsibilities
- Direct and manage a portfolio of procurement projects from strategy development to contract award
- Develop procurement strategies aligned with programme and business objectives
- Oversee tendering, supplier selection and contract award in line with legislation and governance
- Lead or support complex commercial negotiations with project and commercial teams
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and supply chain partners
- Conduct market analysis and supplier engagement to identify trends and opportunities
- Support category management initiatives and development of commercial models
- Ensure procurement risks are identified, managed and reported
- Maintain procurement records, reporting and governance documents
- Support contract administration including variations and supplier performance management
- Contribute to continuous improvement and procurement best practice across the programme
- Mentor and support junior procurement professionals
- Ensure compliance with procurement legislation, company policies and delegated authority
Key requirements
- Proven procurement experience within major infrastructure, construction, utilities or capital programmes
- Strong knowledge of public sector and/or regulated procurement environments and UK procurement legislation
- Experience leading end-to-end procurement activities and managing complex supply relationships
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Experience developing procurement strategies, category plans and commercial models
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced project environment
