Transport Operations Manager

Overview

In this role you lead a busy depot, guiding 30+ drivers and a wider management team to deliver safe, compliant, high-quality transport services. You’ll align with senior leadership to enhance customer service, performance and efficiency. You shape safety culture, use data to drive improvements, and manage planning and budgets in a fast-paced FMCG logistics environment. Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a 30+ strong team across drivers and staff
• Drive performance in cost, service, productivity and compliance
• Plan resources and manage operational budgets
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, WTD and tachograph requirements
• Champion a strong safety culture across the depot
• Use data and KPIs to identify and deliver improvements
• Manage performance, absence and employee relations
• Collaborate with senior leadership to deliver excellent customer service

Key requirements

• Proven experience leading a large-scale transport operation
• Strong people leadership and communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of transport compliance and fleet operations
• Commercially focused with a drive for continuous improvement
• Proactive, hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment
• CPC / Certificate of Professional Competence – ESSENTIAL
