Overview

As a Solutions Architect, you will shape enterprise and system-level designs for Leonardo’s Land CEMA portfolio, ensuring resilient and modular solutions for future customer needs. You will operate at the intersection of strategy, engineering, and business development, collaborating with customers and partners to define technical direction and bid support. The role combines technical leadership with a focus on value, interoperability, and international engagement. Responsibilities

  • Design enterprise and system-level solutions for Land CEMA, ensuring interoperability and resilience
  • Lead SI Enterprise Architecture design and contribute to bids and external studies
  • Provide technical input to bids, including architectures, requirements, and cost estimates
  • Engage with customers and partners to translate needs into clear technical solutions
  • Generate thought leadership through white papers, studies, and stakeholder engagement
  • Support recruitment and mentoring to build engineering talent pipeline
  • Represent the organisation internationally to expand market presence and partnerships
  • Maintain awareness of Land CEMA Architecture standards (LCA/STICS) and related developments
  • Architect and deliver CEMA capabilities across enterprise and system levels
  • Shape technical and commercial strategy by balancing bespoke development with COTS integration
  • Support Capability Management for product portfolios
  • Collaborate across disciplines to define solution definitions and strengthen reputation as a trusted defence partner
  • Lead or contribute to bids and campaigns with a focus on competitive advantage
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships to enable ongoing collaboration

Key requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a STEM subject
  • Significant experience in communications, EW/CEMA and/or vehicle mission systems architectures across full lifecycle
  • Experience dealing with senior commercial and technical customers
  • Experience estimating costs and technical risks per solution approach
  • Full lifecycle experience from concept to disposal
  • Familiarity with open systems architectures (SOSA, LCA, GVA, OpenVPX, MORA, OpenCPI, VITA)
  • Experience with formal requirements capture, traceability and compliance tools
  • Knowledge of military electronic systems, interoperability, and customer needs
  • Experience with military communications architecture and Land/Maritime C2 networks
  • Experience with tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, System Architect, and The MathWorks
  • Experience in producing engineering documentation for competitive tenders
  • Consultancy-type work experience
  • Security clearance considerations (BPSS; NSV may apply; SC/DV possible)
  • Ability to translate customer needs into understandable technical solutions
  • Strong problem solving, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in multi-organisational teams and communicate at all levels
