Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Building Services team. You will lead mechanical design delivery on mid-to-large projects from concept to handover, working with cross-disciplinary teams to meet quality, time, and budget targets. You’ll engage with clients, prepare planning and feasibility reports, and ensure compliance with project plans. This role offers exposure to diverse sectors and opportunities to advance toward chartered status within a global, values-driven firm.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings, and contract documents across project stages
• Manage mechanical design delivery from concept to completion
• Represent AECOM in project and client meetings
• Prepare planning, design, and feasibility reports
• Ensure alignment with Project Management Plan and Programme

Key requirements

• Experience in Building Services design including detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications
• Track record delivering Building Services designs across sectors (Blue Light, Defence, Industrial, Education, Science, Healthcare)
• Experience from concept through completion and client interaction
• Proven ability to deliver low-energy, sustainable designs
• Experience in Blue Light, Defence, Justice, Industrial and decarbonisation sectors
• Working knowledge of REVIT / CAD (preferred)
• Active UK SC Clearance or ability to obtain; sole UK nationality preferred
• Ideally a degree in mechanical, electrical, or building services or equivalent qualifications for Chartered progression
• Chartered or progressing towards Chartered status
• Nuclear or marine experience beneficial but not essential
