PFC Careers are working with a growing construction business with over 60 employees, working across civils, housebuilding

n

They are looking for an experienced administrator to join the team, with a particular focus on supporting our Civil engineering division.

n

This is a varied role covering both general business administration and hands-on support to the Civils team. You’ll be involved in everything from new enquiries and tenders through to purchasing, project paperwork, supplier communication and helping keep live projects organised.

n

You don’t need to come from a construction background, but you do need to be organised, confident dealing with different priorities and interested in learning more about the commercial side of the business.

What you’ll be doing

n

    n

  • Logging new Civils enquiries and keeping information organised
  • n

  • Sending pricing enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and following these up
  • n

  • Helping with estimating spreadsheets and pulling together pricing information
  • n

  • Supporting tender submissions and making sure documentation is completed on time
  • n

  • Issuing quotations and maintaining accurate records
  • n

  • Setting up project folders and keeping project paperwork up to date
  • n

  • Raising purchase orders and helping organise materials, plant and deliveries
  • n

  • Liaising with the Contracts Manager, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams
  • n

  • Recording changes and variations and flagging these to the relevant manager
  • n

  • Helping collate information for invoicing and project close-out
  • n

  • Supporting general office administration, including calls, emails and meetings
  • n

  • Assisting with HR administration including absence records, starter and leaver paperwork, employee files and training records
  • n

  • Arranging travel and accommodation for projects where required
  • n

What they are looking for

n

You’ll have excellent administration and organisational skills, strong attention to detail and be comfortable using Excel, Word and everyday office systems.

n

You’ll also need to be able to manage several priorities at once, communicate confidently with different people and follow things through without needing to be chased.

n

A practical attitude and willingness to get involved are really important. Construction experience would be useful, but it isn’t essential.

n

This is a varied role with the opportunity to learn more about Civils projects from enquiry through to completion.

n

As your knowledge grows, there will be scope to take on more commercial responsibility, with training and development supported along the way.
