Principal Civil Engineer

Overview

As Principal Civil Engineer in our Nuclear team, you will lead civil design delivery for international and UK projects, providing technical direction across multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll shape bids, ensure design quality and safety, and mentor engineers and technicians. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on design assurance in a regulated, high-stakes environment. Responsibilities

• Lead Nuclear design work for UK and international projects
• Prepare, review, and technically assure civil designs
• Provide strategic technical leadership across multi-disciplinary teams
• Support client engagement, bids, and technical proposals
• Oversee delivery to meet programme, quality, safety and client expectations
• Mentor Technicians, Graduates and developing Engineers to support their development

Key requirements

• Expertise in civil engineering with specialist knowledge and proven application
• Ability to guide projects and programmes through informed strategic direction
• Leadership in an engineering function and custodianship of resources and expertise
• Experience in Nuclear sector, including new build and decommissioning
• Delivery track record influencing civil engineering work packages
• Mentorship and direction of Technicians, Graduates and near Chartered engineers
• Understanding of design principles and their application
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Able to meet UK security clearance requirements
