Senior Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead design projects within a civil engineering team, supporting clients through pre-planning, detailed design, and construction phases. You mentor junior staff, coordinate multiple projects, and ensure technical quality and compliance with standards. You work closely with colleagues and clients to deliver timely, cost-efficient solutions and contribute to chartership progression. This position offers exposure to highways, drainage, or residential design, with opportunities to shape project outcomes and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Manage large projects and coordinate with staff to deliver timely, cost-efficient solutions
• Oversee multiple projects concurrently
• Demonstrate proficiency with relevant software, including 3D packages
• Maintain strong knowledge of applicable standards
• Mentor junior team members and review their work
• Allocate tasks to juniors and monitor progress
• Support towards chartership with the relevant professional body

Key requirements

• Broad understanding of civil engineering principles
• Experience in at least one area: highways, drainage, or residential design
• Working towards C.Eng status with a plan to achieve it
• Minimum 30 hours of CPD per year
• Good health and safety knowledge and understanding of construction/design legislation
• Ability to liaise with clients and senior staff to solve complex issues
