Project Engineer – Interfaces (HVDC)

Overview

In this role you will drive interface management for high‑voltage DC and multi‑discipline projects within SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030. You will collaborate with contractors and SSEN teams to resolve design issues, maintain accurate interface data, and deliver high‑quality submissions. The position supports a safe, compliant project lifecycle and contributes to the transition to Net Zero through major infrastructure programmes. This is a hands‑on engineering role that blends design coordination with stakeholder engagement in a large energy programme.

Responsibilities

• Manage design interfaces across HVDC, AC, Civils and Cables within a multi‑contract delivery strategy
• Own and maintain the Design Interface Registers and align inputs with contractors to resolve issues early
• Oversee the design submittals process through Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for timely, traceable submissions
• Act as primary link between SSEN teams and external partners, communicating interface risks, progress and decisions
• Champion safety culture and ensure compliance with CDM regulations and SSEN engineering standards
• Support development of interface management best practice across the project

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical or civil)
• Proven experience in project engineering, design coordination, or interface management on complex, multi‑disciplinary projects
• Strong ability to manage interfaces between teams and contractors with proactive risk identification and mitigation
• Experience supporting or leading multi‑disciplinary design coordination and understanding interdependencies between design, construction and programme
• Strong communication and stakeholder management to present technical issues to varied audiences
• Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar digital collaboration platforms
