As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead the technical delivery of Industrial & Process Automation projects to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective solutions. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive engineering excellence to meet project objectives. This role combines hands-on automation design with strategic stakeholder engagement to support growth and customer satisfaction. Your work will impact project outcomes across sites in the UK and beyond, with opportunities to shape solutions for complex OT environments.

Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of automation projects ensuring safety, on-time, on-budget, and quality delivery
- Design, develop, configure, and implement automation systems (hardware, software, control systems) with documentation
- Review and approve engineering deliverables to standards, regulations, cybersecurity, and Schneider processes
- Plan and lead system testing (FAT, SAT, integration, acceptance)
- Support installation, commissioning, and handover with technical leadership
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks to support delivery success
- Collaborate with Project Managers, customers, suppliers, and internal teams for alignment
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Support sales, bids, and service with technical estimates and solution development
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across engineering activities
Key requirements
- Proven design, configuration, testing, and commissioning experience with DCS and SIS (preferably Foxboro and Triconex)
- Strong understanding of industrial automation, control systems, and project lifecycle
- Knowledge of SCADA, telemetry, industrial networking, and software engineering principles
- Understanding of OT cybersecurity concepts and best practices
- Experience with digital communications, system integration, testing methodologies, and cloud-enabled solutions
- Ability to lead engineering activities in complex projects and manage risks
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in at least two of: Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Utilities/CNI, Renewable Energy, or Cybersecurity
- Fluent in English and eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship
- Educational background in engineering (degree, HND, HNC) or equivalent industry experience
