Overview

In this role you will ensure the reliability, safety and performance of the site’s electrical, control and instrumentation systems in a high-hazard manufacturing environment. You will lead electrical infrastructure, instrumentation maintenance strategies and compliance programs while collaborating with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and SHE. You will drive reliability improvements, support capital projects and ensure safe, compliant operation of assets. Responsibilities

  • Own and manage site electrical infrastructure and instrumentation maintenance programs and compliance.
  • Lead for electrical standards, drawings, safety and local regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and develop Electrical & Instrument Technicians with training and performance management.
  • Support Engineering Manager on maintenance budgets and ensure preventive/corrective tasks meet schedule.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability and safety performance.
  • Provide project management for small capital projects and contribute to larger capital projects as part of the maintenance function.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, SHE and maintenance for contractor assessment and oversight; audit performance.
  • Issue Safe Work Permits and manage excavations permits as needed.
  • Support changes to site instrumentation systems (access control, CCTV, fixed fire system, lighting).
  • Ensure DSEAR and ATEX compliance; maintain safety-critical electrical/instrumentation systems; document policies and procedures.

Key requirements

  • Technical expert in instrumentation on chemical plants with troubleshooting/calibration experience.
  • Strong maintenance skills for electrical control equipment up to 11kV including transformers, MCCs and distribution networks.
  • Understanding of ladder logic and PLC maintenance (first-line).
  • Knowledge of hazardous area electrical equipment, maintenance and protection concepts.
  • Ability to interrogate data in site systems for troubleshooting.
  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering; substantial experience in related engineering/maintenance roles.
  • Experience with Process Safety management including Hazop/PHA, LOPA, SIL/SIS, DSEAR, MOC.
