Overview

In this role you turn data and intelligence into tangible safety improvements for Birmingham. You will sit at the heart of the Community Safety Partnership, delivering strategic insights and operational analysis to tackle crime, ASB, and emerging risks. You translate complex data into actionable recommendations for senior leaders and support place-based interventions with cross-agency partners. Expect to shape city-wide priorities, evaluate impact, and communicate insights through clear dashboards. Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic analysis to shape city-wide community safety priorities
  • Produce and refresh the Strategic Needs Assessment (SNA) using internal and external data
  • Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, risks and emerging issues
  • Translate data into actionable recommendations for senior leaders
  • Create problem profiles and hotspot analysis using the SARA model
  • Provide intelligence to support targeted interventions and frontline services
  • Develop and manage performance frameworks and KPIs
  • Create dashboards and visualisations (Power BI) to communicate insights
  • Ensure data governance, quality, security and compliance (GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018)

Key requirements

  • Significant experience analysing data within community safety, crime, criminal justice, or public sector
  • Experience with large, multi-agency datasets and stakeholder collaboration
  • Proven track record of analytical outputs influencing strategy and service delivery
  • Advanced analytical and numerical skills with trend/risk identification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI; GIS experience desirable
  • Ability to communicate complex information through reports and presentations
  • Knowledge of intelligence techniques, research methodologies, and performance management
  • Understanding of data protection, information governance, GDPR, and information-sharing frameworks
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (criminology, statistics, data analysis, social research, public policy) or equivalent experience
