Overview
As Engineering Manager for the Review Tooling team, you will lead the development of investigation, review, and enforcement tools used by safety investigators and Claude-driven workflows. You’ll own the tooling platform, analytics, privacy-preserving data access, and a sandbox environment to rapidly prototype new interfaces. You will drive automation to scale review while keeping human judgment involved, and collaborate closely with policy, operations, data science, and legal teams to ensure trustworthy, effective enforcement. This role combines leadership, architecture, and cross-functional delivery in a safety-focused, AI-powered environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of engineers building investigation, review, and enforcement tooling for first-party and third-party surfaces
- Define vision and roadmap for the review tooling platform including analytics, privacy primitives, and sandbox environments
- Drive scaling of review through automation and Claude-enabled workflows
- Collaborate with policy, operations, legal, privacy, and data science to translate enforcement needs into reliable systems
- Ensure tooling evolves with privacy primitives and data retention commitments to protect user trust
- Provide clear direction in a dynamic environment and coach top technical talent
- Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as part of Anthropic’s engineering management community
Key requirements
- Experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring and coaching
- Technical background in full-stack or platform engineering with architecture/design focus
- Proven track record shipping internal tools or platforms for demanding users
- Experience working cross-functionally with non-engineering partners like operations, policy, or legal
- Excellent communication skills to explain tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
- Interest in the societal impacts of AI and safety considerations
