Overview
In this role you lead the Mechanical Design and Development team within the Precision Control Systems area, driving design for safety-critical aerospace programs. You partner with program management and in-service support to deliver NPI, R&D and aftermarket initiatives, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery. You mentor engineers, manage risk, and maintain high-quality technical outputs to satisfy customers. This position offers impact across development and support streams in a global, matrix engineering environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Mechanical Design and Development team; support Critical Controls, Stores Ejection, and Data Processing streams
- Oversee new product development, internal R&D and aftermarket programs with cross-functional collaboration
- Ensure OTIF delivery, define scope, budgets and deadlines; drive preventative/corrective actions
- Manage NRC bid estimates and engineering schedules; deliver within +/-5% of planned cost and schedule
- Identify and de-risk project areas; communicate resource needs to leadership
- Recruit, mentor and develop engineering talent; evaluate performance and provide coaching
- Promote continuous improvement; ensure quality, design standards and documentation
- Maintain customer liaison for requirements, reviews and performance resolutions; support prototype tests
- Promote robust design practices (DFSS) and data-driven improvements
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 10 years aerospace/high-tech experience with NPD and sustaining support
- Minimum 5 years in engineering leadership
- UK citizenship with ability to obtain SC (DV) clearance
- Experience with NPI, portfolio/program management, and customer engagement
- Familiarity with electronic control, data systems, and pneumatic systems (preferred)
