As Lead Designer in the Experience and Product Design team, you will shape accessible, user‑centred digital experiences for customers within our Quick Commerce initiatives. You’ll lead design work across complex product efforts, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and mentor peers to raise design quality. This role offers ownership, variety, and a chance to influence the future of a fast‑growing digital product at a values‑driven cooperative. You’ll work hybrid in Manchester, delivering impact from discovery through delivery while advancing our design practices.

Responsibilities
- Lead design activity across complex product initiatives within Quick Commerce
- Shape and deliver intuitive, accessible user‑centred experiences with emphasis on interaction design and usability
- Drive design practice across the product ecosystem including research, content, optimization and service design
- Facilitate workshops, present design work, and communicate decisions to diverse audiences
- Coach and mentor designers across interaction, research, content and service design
- Use research, insights and data to inform design decisions and improve outcomes
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers and stakeholders to identify opportunities and deliver value
- Maintain high standards of design quality, accessibility and user‑centred thinking
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design practices, tools and ways of working across Co-op
Key requirements
- Proven experience in interaction design and usability with a portfolio solving complex customer problems
- Strong craft skills with rapid exploration, prototyping, and communication using Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, sketching, paper prototyping and AI‑assisted ideation
- Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management, with influence and ambiguity handling
- Ability to work across user research, service design, content design and accessibility
- Experience in multidisciplinary product teams with engineers and product delivery
- Experience leading end‑to‑end design activities from opportunities to delivered solutions and measuring impact
- Experience coaching and developing other designers with a pragmatic, collaborative problem‑solving approach
- Confidence to balance competing priorities and lead design through from discovery to delivery
