Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you install, commission and service laser micromachining systems at customer sites worldwide. You troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical and control-system issues, and you support customers with on-site training and documented reports. This role combines hands-on technical work with regular travel, contributing to high-precision laser processing capabilities. You will collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and ensure equipment meets exact specifications.

Responsibilities
- Install and commission laser micromachining systems at customer sites
- Perform planned servicing and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical and control-system faults
- Fault-find across laser systems, motion control, PLCs, drives and related equipment
- Execute machine modifications, upgrades and repairs
- Calibrate and optimise equipment to required specs
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical and technical drawings
- Provide technical support and training to customers
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to resolve issues
- Undertake regular UK and international travel for installations and service
Key requirements
- Background in laser micromachining or precision laser processing
- Experience servicing complex, high-precision laser equipment (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to undertake regular international travel
