Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems for light helicopters. You will work within a focused engineering team to shape schemes and detailed designs for aircraft parts and assemblies. You will use Creo and CAE tools to size, analyse and optimise components, while supporting prototype builds and testing plans. Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs for aircraft parts and assemblies
• Design and develop systems such as landing gear, flight controls, cabin seating, engine installations or rotor systems
• Carry out concept development for mechanical systems
• Use hand calculations, simulation methods, modelling tools and CAE to size, analyse and optimise system elements
• Concept design of mechanical systems using PTC Creo
• Develop part and system testing plans
• Support in-house prototype builds

Key requirements

• BSc/BEng in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Proven mechanical design experience
• Proficiency in modelling parts & assemblies in CAD
• Experience with engineering calculations and modelling/simulation software (Mathcad, ANSYS or similar)
• Experience developing mechanical systems from concept to reality
