Overview
In this role you will deliver the procurement plan for the business and manage a substantial spend. You will lead purchasing strategies, collaborate with directors, and monitor metrics to reduce costs and improve efficiency. You will forecast market trends, manage supplier relationships, and optimize procurement processes to support fast-paced operations. Responsibilities
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
- Track and report metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with favorable terms
- Partner with stakeholders to document clear requirements
- Forecast price and market trends to balance buyer-supplier power
- Conduct cost/scenario analysis and benchmarking
- Assess, manage and mitigate risks
- Source reliable vendors and suppliers
- Determine delivery quantities and timing
- Monitor and forecast demand levels
- Propose improvements to purchasing systems to strengthen vendor relationships and margins
- Collaborate with inventory control and sales to set metrics for inventory needs
- Lead initiatives to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock
- Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure agent performance
- Assist in developing invoicing and collections processes
Key requirements
- CIPS Level 5
- at least 3 years’ experience managing a procurement team
- experience managing a team with responsibility for a key commodity within procurement
- ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- knowledge or training in Toyota Production System (TPS) desirable
