Senior Process Engineer – Nuclear

Overview

In this Senior Process Engineer role, you will contribute to UK nuclear projects within a multidisciplinary team, delivering core process engineering design across the project lifecycle. You will interact with clients, prepare bids, and guide delivery to meet quality, safety, and environmental standards. The position supports safe decommissioning work and ongoing operations within a regulated nuclear context. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines to shape robust, fit-for-purpose solutions.

Responsibilities

• Produce key process engineering deliverables (PFDs, Basis of Design, P&IDs, Data Sheets and schedules, mass and enthalpy balances, design justification reports) as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ensure work complies with legislative, company, and project requirements
• Plan and prioritise own work against project programmes
• Develop early career staff through guidance and checking of work
• Act as a Designer under CDM 2015 regulations and support Safety Case development
• Apply engineering judgement to solve problems pragmatically and communicate design development in meetings and reports
• Coordinate with other discipline engineers to maintain an integrated multidiscipline design
• Stay updated on relevant technological advances and best practices

Key requirements

• BSc/BEng in Chemical Engineering (Hons)
• Ideally Chartered or near Chartered with IChE
• 5+ years post-degree experience as a Process Engineer
• Good awareness of the UK nuclear industry
• Experience in a regulated, quality-assured environment with pragmatic design judgment
• Proven delivery of process engineering work packages
• Experience implementing Health and Safety processes, regulations and standards
• Familiarity with NEC contracts
• Eligible for UK security clearance
• Full UK driving licence
