Overview

As Syndicate Financial Controller, you will lead the Syndicate Finance team handling Lloyd’s and Talbot-managed syndicates. You’ll ensure accurate, timely regulatory and group reporting and maintain efficient financial accounting processes. You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, to drive close, controls, and data governance. This role places you at the heart of regulatory reporting with impact across the syndicate and broader business. You’ll work in a culture that values inclusion and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Lloyd’s financial reporting and controls for Talbot managed syndicates
  • Deliver US GAAP reporting to AIG, including SAP ledger close
  • Prepare UK GAAP Lloyd’s reporting and annual/interim financial statements
  • Coordinate solvency submissions and international returns (SITUS, NAIC, TRIA)
  • Handle Syndicate tax returns and other Lloyd’s returns (Flash, QMB, RRQ, RRA)
  • Manage the Syndicate Finance team and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders and auditors
  • Support and drive close and control enhancements for Talbot Syndicate Finance objectives
  • Own Syndicate Finance related SOX controls and Data Governance journeys; data reporting owner
  • Act as finance systems stakeholder (e.g., Talisman Data Warehouse)
  • Attend committees (Audit, Reserve) as required

Key requirements

  • Five+ years post-qualification experience in insurance, including Lloyd’s
  • Experience leading a finance team
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, UK GAAP, and Solvency UK
  • Solid understanding of Lloyd’s reporting rules and financial processes/controls
  • Proven ability in financial accounting, controls, and accounting for Lloyd’s
  • Good team management, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Good IT skills including General Ledgers/Data warehouses and Microsoft applications
