Railway Infrastructure Civil/Structural Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute as a Civil/Structural Engineer within a Design and Build team on a range of rail projects for London Underground and Network Rail. You will help deliver project tasks on time and to budget, while applying strong design and technical skills across civil and structural scopes. The position emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, adherence to standards, and effective communication to support high-quality project outcomes. The opportunity centers on shaping infrastructure assets and supporting rail system reliability through rigorous engineering practice.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of project tasks to meet budget, schedule and quality targets on LU and Network Rail projects
• Contribute to Civil/Structural design across signalling, telecoms, power and building works
• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure design integration and constructability
• Assist with draughting and documentation in Bentley MicroStation/ProjectWise workflows (where applicable)
• Apply Eurocodes, Network Rail and British Standards in design and assessment
• Engage in technical analysis, calculations and site coordination to support project milestones

Key requirements

• BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering (preferred)
• 5 years’ post-graduate experience in the rail industry
• 2+ years’ experience with Bentley ProjectWise
• Knowledge of Eurocodes and Network Rail/British Standards
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards
• Travel flexibility across the UK
• Experience with Network Rail and London Underground design/build processes
• Draughting experience with Bentley MicroStation (desirable)
• Drainage, Piling and Temporary works experience
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Team-oriented and technically analytical
• Knowledge of Tedds software
