As Director of Structural Engineering in Ramboll’s Science & Pharma Service Line, you lead the UK London practice and drive growth in transforming science facilities. You will anchor the structural discipline on large, multi-disciplinary projects, build trusted client relationships, and shape Ramboll’s presence in the market. You enable delivery excellence through mentoring teams, pursuing opportunities, and contributing to strategic sector priorities. This role offers influence, cross-functional collaboration, and a platform to advance sustainable, high-impact science infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the most senior Structural Engineer in the London Science & Pharma team and lead the discipline on major projects
- Act as Project/Programme Lead for the portfolio and ensure revenue targets and profitability
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams with PM and Design Managers, ensuring delivery excellence
- Build and maintain strong client and collaborator relationships; raise Ramboll’s profile through networking and B2B engagement
- Identify, pursue and manage new business opportunities within the science sector, especially in London
- Contribute to bids and proposals, and steer technical delivery and best practices
- Coach and develop team capabilities; deploy Ramboll’s competencies on projects to exceed client expectations
- Influence the evolution of Ramboll’s technical delivery through leadership and example
- Support regional and national growth plans by developing services and strategic sector priorities
Key requirements
- Chartered membership status in a relevant engineering institution
- Demonstrable experience leading and delivering structural designs for science sector projects
- Good knowledge of science sector trends
- Ability to motivate and develop teams
- Experience and relationships with clients/collaborators in the science sector (London or national)
- Passion for sustainable design and drive toward net-zero carbon
- Strong client-facing skills including presenting to clients, securing new work, and negotiating proposals
