Overview

As Space Systems Chief Engineer, you act as the technical authority shaping Raytheon NORSS’s space portfolio and leading multidisciplinary teams. You set strategy for current programs and future capability development, balancing technical excellence with risk management. You will engage customers and stakeholders to deliver mission-critical space capabilities, including Earth Observation, SDA and Space-based ISR architectures. This is a high-visibility leadership role at a rapidly growing space business with a strong engineering culture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organisation’s technical authority and provide strategic direction across the space portfolio
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative, mission-critical capabilities
  • Shape technical vision and investment planning to support current programmes and future growth
  • Inspire and manage engineering teams, and engage with customers and stakeholders to ensure delivery success
  • Oversee risk management and ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of complex space missions

Key requirements

  • 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to convey technical detail to varied audiences
  • Knowledge of Space and Ground Segment architectures
  • Experience with Systems Engineering and full lifecycle development
  • Working understanding of software development processes
  • Strong background in Space Domain Awareness (SDA) or Space-based ISR
  • Knowledge of secure remote data handling architectures
  • Experience in bid submission, technical bid writing and reviews
  • Experience writing technical white papers and studies
  • Engineering leadership and line management
  • Familiarity with modern digital technologies including cloud platforms, data security, and machine learning
