Overview

In this Principal Structural Engineer role, you help lead the design and delivery of high-value water infrastructure projects, from pumping stations to concrete water-retaining structures. You’ll guide multidisciplinary teams, mentor colleagues, and ensure high-quality, compliant solutions that meet client needs. You will collaborate with cross-functional disciplines and stakeholders to drive value across AMP8 programmes. This is an opportunity to shape innovative structural solutions within a globally trusted infrastructure firm. You’ll operate in a hybrid UK-based setting and contribute to impactful water projects that uplift communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design of projects and oversee detailed design activities by others
  • Develop robust structural solutions for diverse heavy civil structures
  • Mentor and support the professional development of team members
  • Interface with other design disciplines and manage client/stakeholder communication
  • Prepare and review drawings, calculations, specifications and reports
  • Ensure quality, compliance and efficiency in project deliverables

Key requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in civil and structural engineering
  • Membership or working towards membership of ICE or IStructE
  • Experience delivering robust structural solutions in multidisciplinary environments
  • Experience in structural design using relevant standards and specifications
  • Excellent communication with clients and stakeholders
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities
