As a Principal Structural Engineer in the Nuclear Team, you will lead structural projects for nuclear facilities, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and reliable performance. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions from concept to completion. Expect involvement in seismic and stress analyses, design reviews, and client-facing reporting. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage structural engineering projects across their lifecycle with adherence to standards and timelines
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers
- Perform detailed structural analysis and design, including seismic and stress analysis
- Review and approve designs, drawings, and calculations for safety and quality
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to integrate solutions
- Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and recommendations to clients and senior management
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant codes for nuclear structures
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and processes
Key requirements
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with membership in MICE or MIStructE
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in Nuclear Sector (new build and decommissioning)
- Proven project delivery experience with leadership of engineering work packages
- Proficiency in seismic analysis and numerical modelling (finite element analysis) preferred
- Mentoring ability for technicians, graduates, and near Chartered engineers
- Knowledge of European and American Standards
- Full UK driving licence and ability to meet UK security clearance requirements
