Overview

In this Principal Structural Engineer role, you’ll lead diverse structural projects within Ramboll’s Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team in London. You will shape design concepts, mentor engineers, and represent Ramboll with clients while advancing low-carbon solutions. The position offers cross-project impact across rail, aviation, data centres and other critical facilities, with strong growth opportunities and a culture that values collaboration and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and agree structural concepts and design philosophies
  • Inspire and lead engineers and technicians on projects
  • Liaise with clients and collaborators, representing Ramboll at meetings
  • Take ownership as day-to-day lead on a project or part of a project
  • Push the boundaries of low-carbon design
  • Grow and maintain a network of contacts and act as Ramboll ambassador
  • Lead the design process for a project appropriate to experience level
  • Collaborate with London and broader teams to implement Ramboll Business Plan

Key requirements

  • Chartered with IStructE, ICE, or international equivalent
  • Excellent communicator capable of explaining complex engineering concepts clearly
  • Experience in at least one infrastructure sector (Rail, Aviation, Data Centres or other critical facilities) and broad sector exposure desirable
  • Track record on high-design, sustainable or reuse-focused projects
  • Experience in design of primary construction materials (steel, concrete, timber); MMC knowledge beneficial
  • Passion for sustainable solutions
  • Multidisciplinary mindset and willingness to learn broader aspects of building design
  • Great with people
