Senior/Principal Process Engineer

Overview

As a Senior/Principal Process Engineer in AECOM’s Water Solutions team, you will lead water and wastewater process design for major projects in the UK, including Southern Water’s large investment programme. You’ll provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, delivering compliant, sustainable solutions from concept to delivery. You’ll engage in process safety reviews and shape safe, high-quality outcomes for clients and communities. This role offers scope to influence infrastructure at scale while working in a flexible, global firm.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of water and wastewater process solutions
• Produce and review PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances and technical specifications
• Provide technical leadership, solving complex engineering challenges and supporting project delivery
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and other process safety reviews
• Prepare process safety documentation including Hazardous Area Classification and LoPA assessments
• Ensure designs comply with regulations, standards and industry best practice
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes

Key requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry/Biological Science
• Chartered (or on track toward chartered status)
• Water Industry Experience
