Data Cloud Engineer

Overview

As Data Cloud Engineer, you ensure the reliability and performance of Kingfisher’s data transformation platforms while enabling scalable, secure infrastructure deployments. You work with cross-functional teams to implement stakeholder-driven enhancements and maintain platform uptime. The role blends cloud engineering, IaC, and CI/CD to support data initiatives at scale in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will shape platform stability and security, contributing to operational excellence and innovative data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure uptime and reliability of data transformation platforms
• Build scalable, secure GitLab CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments
• Identify improvement opportunities to enhance stability and security
• Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and security teams; document standards and mentor juniors
• Maintain up-to-date platform documentation and showcase new features
• Participate in OOH (out-of-hours) support rota

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including BigQuery, Dataproc, Databricks
• Terraform IaC experience in GCP
• Solid understanding of GCP networking (VPCs, firewall rules, VPN, Private Service Connect, DNS, Load Balancing)
• Experience building/managing CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy or equivalent
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting (Cloud Monitoring/Logging)
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell)
• Understanding of cloud security best practices (IAM, service accounts, Secret Manager, org policies)
• Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration
• Previous experience in Data Platform teams preferred
