Senior Risk Manager

Overview

As a Senior Project Risk Management professional, you will lead a growing Scotland Infrastructure Risk team and shape risk capability across projects and programmes. You’ll partner with clients and internal stakeholders to enhance controls, drive performance, and deliver better programme outcomes. You will mentor and develop a high-performing risk function, influencing client strategy and market positioning. This role offers the chance to innovate within a consultancy-focused environment and contribute to a broader risk management community.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Risk Management team on complex projects or programmes and coordinate with senior management for updates
• Brief and align the team on project scope, roles, and interface relationships
• Manage line reporting, career development, and performance of team members
• Drive continuous improvement of risk management processes and embed changes across projects
• Promote the value and requirements of risk management within project teams
• Provide subject matter expertise and perform qualitative/quantitative risk analyses for stakeholders and leadership
• Train and coach clients and junior staff on risk management practices
• Support recruitment and development of project controls capability and contribute to regional Risk Management communities

Key requirements

• Tangible experience delivering Risk Management on complex projects/programmes
• Experience interfacing with other project disciplines
• Experience leading Risk Management teams
• Practical exposure to risk standards (ISO31000, APM, Orange Book, IPA) and quantitative risk analysis with software tools (e.g. Safran, @risk, PRA)
• Experience with risk tools (ARM, Predict!, Risk Controller, riskHive, Xactium)
• Desirable: ability to work in delivery and transformation projects; familiarity with NEC contracts; security clearance is desirable
