Overview
In Wayve’s AV Core, you will steer fault detection and fallback for driverless operation, working with ML experts to build robust hardware-and-software systems. You’ll contribute to the Core Model Safety initiative, focusing on collision avoidance, model understanding, and failure robustness. This senior role offers ownership, access to large-scale data, and collaboration with research, simulation, and applied engineering teams. You help shape safe, scalable autonomous driving capabilities and deploy them in real-world settings.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical strategy and roadmap for fault detection and fallback from a robotics systems perspective, defining scope, envelope, interfaces, and acceptance criteria
- Design and train fault detection mechanisms to enable robust driverless operation
- Collaborate across functions with ML, inference optimisation, software engineers, and other teams
- Lead integration into the shared driving stack and align decisions across teams, mentoring and communicating risks and trade-offs
- Improve overall robot system robustness beyond fault detection and fallback
Key requirements
- Robotics proficiency with real-world development and troubleshooting
- Track record of staff-level technical leadership (leading ambiguous programs across multiple teams)
- Exceptional technical judgement and communication (safety-relevant trade-offs and evidence-based decisions)
- Experience with Python and C++ for robotics
- Technical leadership
- Clear communication
- Cross-functional collaboration
- Python and C++ for robotics
- Robotics systems design and deployment
- Fault detection and robustness engineering
