Overview

In this role you will drive transport planning for development projects within a multidisciplinary team, supporting both private-sector developments and public-sector transport strategies. You will guide day-to-day technical inputs, lead projects where appropriate, and mentor Early Career Professionals, helping to grow the team’s capability. The position blends technical delivery with project leadership and business development, contributing to large, multi-disciplinary development proposals. You will work within a culture of innovation and inclusion to shape transport and masterplanning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical transport planning work on Development Planning projects (TA/Travel Plans/parking strategies)
  • Support private sector development proposals through planning processes and assist public sector clients with transport strategies
  • Mentor Early Career Professionals and contribute to knowledge sharing
  • Manage small to medium scale projects including budget and resource planning
  • Collaborate with Highways, Services, Structures and Environmental teams on multidisciplinary proposals
  • Contribute to masterplans and inputs for Expert Witness evidence
  • Develop and apply transport modelling and scenario testing (where applicable)
  • Support business development through client engagement and networking

Key requirements

  • Experience leading Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and parking strategies
  • Ability to prepare traffic flow information for Transport Assessments and Environmental Statements
  • Experience setting up and running junction capacity modelling (Junctions 10, Linsig) and interpreting outputs
  • Project management capability (budget, resources, invoicing) for small/medium projects
  • Ability to carry out or supervise conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals)
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and project teams
  • Ability to mentor others, especially Early Career Professionals
  • Postgraduate experience in transport planning; ideally chartered status in a transport discipline
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word
