Overview

As Rail Technical Lead in AECOM’s Southeastern team, you drive multi-disciplinary rail programs from design through commissioning. You will integrate disciplines (architecture, track, civils, electrical, telecoms, structures, signalling) to deliver safe, reliable rail solutions. You’ll shape technical strategy, governance, and delivery while mentoring teams and nurturing client relationships to win and execute complex rail projects. Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical liaison for clients, translating requirements into robust delivery plans
  • Lead workshops, options assessments, value engineering, and risk/issue sessions with operators, maintainers, utilities, and third-party stakeholders
  • Establish and manage technical governance including design reviews, hazard logs, change control, conformity assessments, and peer reviews
  • Ensure adherence to client specifications, standards and AECOM quality procedures with clear audit trails
  • Collaborate across the business to plan and execute tenders through strategic planning and relationship development

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience delivering complex rail programs with leadership across multi-disciplinary rail systems and civil interfaces
  • Strong systems integration expertise across track/civil works, stations, traction power/OCS, signaling, telecoms, and SCADA
  • Experience guiding designs through construction, testing, commissioning, and entry into service with operators and maintainers
  • Proficiency in digital delivery and coordination workflows, plus requirements management approaches
  • Exceptional client-facing communication and stakeholder facilitation skills with the ability to influence decisions
  • A relevant engineering or architectural degree, along with professional registration
