Overview
As Technical Manager at Brighter Foods, you will lead food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across the Tywyn site. You’ll own the Site Quality Management System and drive industry-leading standards in collaboration with cross-functional teams. You’ll monitor trends and audits, champion risk-based improvements, and develop a high-performing technical team. This role offers impact in delivering safe, high-quality snacks at scale and shaping THG’s nutrition manufacturing excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead the site’s Food Safety and Quality agenda and foster a culture of excellence across technical functions
- Own and maintain the Site Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring compliance with legislation and customer standards
- Stay updated on emerging regulations and customer requirements to keep standards industry-leading
- Embed proactive risk assessment and technical integrity across the function
- Develop and manage KPIs to monitor quality and safety performance site-wide
- Ensure all product batches released meet quality and food safety standards
- Coordinate and lead third-party audits including preparation, execution, and follow-up
- Support new projects from a quality perspective, advising on hygienic design, equipment, materials, and cleaning validation
- Lead and develop a high-performing technical team with regular performance reviews and training
- Manage and investigate customer complaints to identify root causes and corrective actions
- Participate in internal and external audits per schedule
- Drive continuous improvement and promote quality awareness across the site
- Maintain site hygiene standards to support compliant manufacturing operations
- Provide clear direction and leadership to the team, fostering accountability and engagement

Key requirements
- Proven track record in Quality Systems Management and technical leadership in food manufacturing
- Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline such as food science, microbiology, or product safety
- Strong experience managing third-party audits, ideally in a BRC-accredited facility
- Confident people manager with a passion for coaching and team development
- Demonstrated success in driving quality improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
- Up-to-date Food Safety qualifications, including HACCP Level 3 minimum
- Solid knowledge of BRC and ISO standards, QMS certification processes, retailer technical standards, and food manufacturing processes
