Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead mechanical design delivery for varied building services projects and work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. You will drive technical quality from concept to completion, mentor junior engineers, and build strong client relationships. The role emphasizes sustainable, low-carbon solutions and adherence to standards. This is an opportunity to shape high-impact projects across healthcare, education, residential, and more in a consultancy setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design delivery on selected projects
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Manage design elements from concept through completion
  • Produce technical drawings, specifications and design documentation
  • Perform engineering calculations and support technical reviews
  • Attend client meetings and contribute to presentations
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Maintain and improve technical standards within the team
  • Contribute to innovative, sustainable and low-carbon engineering solutions

Key requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-4 years’ post-qualification experience in building services design
  • Strong experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions in a consultancy
  • Knowledge of British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance
  • Experience using design software: Revit, Relux / Dialux, Amtech or equivalent
  • Understanding of sustainable design principles and renewable technologies
  • Experience with BREEAM is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building services design
  • Mentoring or supporting junior engineers
  • Client engagement and presentation skills
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
  • Revit
  • Relux / Dialux
  • Amtech or equivalent
