Overview
In this role you will contribute to advanced control system design and analysis within a defence-focused, multidisciplinary engineering environment. You will develop and validate control strategies, model system behavior, and assess stability and performance for complex aerospace/defence projects. You will collaborate with multiple teams to translate requirements into robust hardware and software solutions, while navigating security vetting and UK compliance. This position offers hands-on modelling work, on-site responsibilities in Ampthill, and the opportunity to shape critical system performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement control strategies and model system dynamics
- Perform trajectory, aerodynamics, and aerothermodynamics modelling
- Conduct model optimisation and calibration; ground trials analysis
- Assess system stability, robustness and performance using analytical and simulation approaches
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate with senior stakeholders
- Support programme milestones and potentially engage with customers
- Prepare concise technical reports and presentations
- Operate within Windows and Linux environments
- Obtain and maintain DV security clearance as required
Key requirements
- Strong foundation in control theory and system dynamics
- Ability to develop modelling of system behaviour and manage coordinate systems
- Experience with analytical and simulation-based analysis
- Degree level education with exposure to aerospace/control engineering
- Proficient in Windows and Linux
- Clear and concise report writing and good presentation skills
- Good teamwork and self-drive; potential customer-facing role
- Experience in working in a classified setting preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain DV clearance (UK)
