Overview

In this role you will support complex offshore vessel projects by assessing and assuring electrical, automation, and control systems. You join a multidisciplinary team delivering technical assurance across the vessel lifecycle and work on DP and marine power system initiatives. You will translate designs and technical studies into clear reports for clients, contributing to safe, reliable, and decarbonising offshore vessels. This is a specialist path within marine assurance, offering exposure to advanced offshore technologies and hybrid power concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Review marine electrical system designs, documentation, and studies
  • Support Dynamic Positioning (DP) system assurance activities
  • Assess vessel power generation, distribution, and redundancy
  • Review electrical failure scenarios and support FMEA activities
  • Support Power Management System (PMS) and Integrated Automation System (IAS) reviews
  • Assess vessel automation and control system architectures
  • Review propulsion, thruster, and variable frequency drive systems
  • Support vessel trials, commissioning activities, and offshore inspections
  • Produce technical reports and engineering documentation for clients

Key requirements

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems, Automation, or related engineering discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Excellent communication skills to produce clear technical reports
  • Proactive approach and willingness to develop specialist marine assurance knowledge
