Overview

In this role you lead on-site installation and commissioning of wastewater treatment systems, focusing on mechanical and electrical works. You work closely with project managers and engineers to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions for customers from Midlands sites and our Derby office. You’ll manage installation, commissioning, inspections, fault finding and repairs, while ensuring safety and proper documentation. The role combines hands-on fieldwork with coordination of partners and suppliers to achieve reliable treatment processes. This is a customer-facing, impact-driven position within the water sector with opportunities to shape project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise mechanical and electrical installations and lead dry and wet commissioning on site
  • Plan, document and execute equipment offloading and installation for wastewater products and systems
  • Coordinate with control systems, mechanical, electrical and process engineers under project and field service managers
  • Ensure installations meet engineering practice, client specs, and contract design/docs
  • Lead environmental and H&S on site, create risk assessments and method statements, ensure permits to work
  • Maintain site records and reports per company procedures and deadlines
  • Coordinate warranty-related work with clients, PMs, and engineers
  • Develop relationships with customers and suppliers; provide lessons learned feedback
  • Occasionally support Derby office activities: equipment inspection, assembly, and logistics
  • Assist with supplier documentation and communication as directed by FSM, PMs and engineers

Key requirements

  • Valid UK driving license
  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • HND/HNC/City & Guilds Engineering or similar
  • Apprenticeship in electrical/instrument/process control or similar
  • Valid CSCS/CCNSG
  • Valid H&S qualification
  • Valid First Aid
  • Willingness to travel and periods away from home
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to travel abroad when opportunities arise
  • Ability to assimilate information from training and apply learning
