Installation Engineer

Overview

As a Medical Gas Installation Engineer, you ensure safe, compliant installation of gas pipeline systems in healthcare settings. You will work with project teams to meet HTM 02-01 and ISO 7396-1 standards while delivering high-quality installations. The role combines hands-on field work with collaboration across hospital staff to support patient safety and project delivery. You’ll be trusted to guide junior engineers and maintain clear installation records on-site.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and commission MGPS in hospitals and healthcare environments, including method statements and risk assessments
• Test and pre-commission installations to industry standards
• Perform final connections of piped gas systems
• Interpret and work from mechanical services drawings
• Ensure installations comply with HTM 02-01, ISO 7396-1 and related standards
• Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and hospital staff to ensure smooth delivery
• Maintain accurate documentation and installation records
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and subcontractors
• Represent BeaconMedaes professionally on-site and maintain customer relationships

Key requirements

• Proven experience in medical gas pipeline installation or similar mechanical engineering field
• MGPS Competent Person (CP) or Authorized Person (AP) certification (HTM 02-01)
• Strong understanding of HTM 02-01, ISO 7396-1 and other relevant standards
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally to various sites
• CSCS card and relevant health & safety certifications (e.g., SSSTS, PASMA, IPAF) advantageous
