Overview

As Engineering Manager at Teya, you will lead backend engineers to shape onboarding and verification systems across Europe. You’ll blend hands-on technical guidance with strong people leadership, partnering with product, compliance, and engineering to deliver secure, usable, and automated onboarding. You’ll drive architectural quality, reliability, and continuous improvement while scaling the team and processes. This is a mission-driven role in a fast-paced fintech environment where you help small businesses thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of backend engineers and manage performance, development, and career growth
  • Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering to enhance onboarding efficiency while ensuring regulatory integrity
  • Drive high standards for clean architecture, security, automation, and maintainability across the codebase
  • Own team delivery, system reliability, and continuous improvement of development processes
  • Contribute to roadmap definition and participate in recruitment, onboarding, and capacity planning
  • Mentor engineers on technical and architectural decisions to empower independent problem solving

Key requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience managing engineers (performance and career development)
  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, preferably backend with Java, Kotlin, or similar
  • Experience in systems design for high-throughput, secure, or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with automation-first development principles and reducing manual processes
  • Strong communication skills to articulate trade-offs to diverse audiences
  • Comfort with Agile and fast-paced, high-stakes delivery
