Overview
As Engineering Manager, you will lead engineering, quality, production, integration, and in-service support activities to ensure reliable, maintainable systems. You will engage with project chiefs and stakeholders, govern technical delivery, and drive improvements. You’ll guide in-service engineering efforts and coordinate with logistics and maintenance to meet support needs. This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership and program management, shaping how complex projects deliver for Defence and aerospace contexts.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering, quality, production, integration, capability development and in-service support activities
- Provide technical governance and customer interface; review and accept deliverables
- Resolve engineering issues with project chiefs and stakeholders to minimise operational impact
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and maintainability
- Coordinate with logistics, maintenance, and supply chain to meet support requirements
- Maintain documentation and risk assessments related to in-service activity
Key requirements
- Proven experience leading engineering teams within complex projects, ideally in Defence environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills; able to work with large, multi-functional teams
- Experience managing engineering change, configuration, and asset management (desirable)
- Experience in in-service or support environments, particularly GMPP or CAT A programmes (advantageous)
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and service providers; proactive and fast-paced
