Overview

As Engineering Manager in Flow Traders’ Product Development, you will lead people and delivery to raise engineering management standards. You’ll partner with technical leads on architecture while managing roadmaps, growth, and hiring. Central to the role is developing engineers, maintaining culture, and ensuring alignment with firm priorities. You will work across Engineering, Trading, and Quant to roll out new products, driving predictable delivery and team velocity. This role offers impact in a fast-moving, collaboration-centric environment with a strong people focus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap: prioritise, plan, and sequence work in line with company goals
  • Develop your engineers: career planning, coaching, promotions, and performance management
  • Plan and build the team: hiring, headcount planning, and resource allocation
  • Cultivate a healthy team: manage culture, morale, productivity, and conflict
  • Lead with rhythm: regular one-on-ones, clear feedback, and team-building efforts
  • Translate requirements into delivery plans: identify dependencies and upfront risks
  • Act as liaison between Engineering, Trading, and Quant teams for new products
  • Drive delivery predictability: track progress, manage risk and scope, report to stakeholders
  • Continuously improve delivery processes and team velocity
  • Ensure alignment with organizational goals and collaborate with Tech Leads and Staff Engineers on technical direction

Key requirements

  • Strong project management skills: roadmaps, sequencing, dependencies, risk, and delivery in fast-moving environments
  • A technical background enabling credible technical discussions with engineers
  • Experience leading, growing, and managing software engineers
  • Proven track record delivering software through a team with balanced scope, quality, and timelines
  • Strong people-leadership: coaching, feedback, conflict resolution, and engineering-friendly culture
  • Sound judgment in hiring and developing talent
  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including cross-functional stakeholders (Trading, Quant)
  • Based in Amsterdam, or willing to relocate to London
