Overview

In this role you will lead engineering, maintenance and facilities on-site to ensure safe, compliant and high-performing operations. You will manage internal teams and contractors, drive improvements and support day-to-day engineering activities in a fast-paced industrial setting. You’ll supervise key site projects and foster a strong safety culture, aligning with the site’s growth and operation goals. This is a hands-on leadership position with a clear impact on reliability and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a multi-skilled maintenance and facilities team
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across the site
  • Support engineering projects, site improvements and infrastructure upgrades
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering and operational performance
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and engineering standards
  • Assist with budget control and engineering spend management
  • Maintain high engineering, housekeeping and safety standards
  • Provide technical support across engineering and operations
  • Collaborate with operational teams and senior management
  • Oversee facilities management for offices and operational areas
  • Lead from the front and promote a positive engineering and safety culture
  • Be involved in site-based engineering activities as needed

Key requirements

  • Time served Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background
  • Over 5 years’ hands on engineering experience
  • Supervisory or management experience in industrial environments
  • Experience in ports, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of engineering maintenance and facilities management
  • Experience managing contractors and third party providers
  • Proactive, hands-on approach
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence
