Overview
In this role you will conduct cutting-edge research at the interface of soft sensing, robotics, machine learning and signal processing to develop physical intelligence for next-generation robotic systems. You will work in an interdisciplinary team and lead ideas arising from an ERC project, with extensive experimental validation on robotic platforms. The position combines academic rigor with impact-driven experimentation, contributing to world-class research and innovation. This is a hands-on role with regular on-campus lab work and collaboration across sensing, robotics, electronics and AI.

Responsibilities
- Conduct research at the intersection of soft sensing, robotics, machine learning and signal processing to enable physical intelligence in robots
- Develop sensing and perception methods for robots to understand body state and interactions with the environment
- Integrate capabilities into robotic platforms and perform extensive experimental validation
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team spanning sensing, robotics, electronics and AI
- Develop and lead new research ideas arising from the ERC project
Key requirements
- PhD (or near completion) in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline
- Strong research experience in at least two of: soft/flexible sensors, robotics, machine learning, signal processing, or embodied/physical intelligence
- Experience developing and experimentally validating sensing, perception or learning methods on physical robotic or mechatronic systems
- Strong track record of research, with excellent problem-solving, communication and collaborative skills
