Overview
In this role you will deliver design work for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with UK and international teams, developing and assuring designs that meet standards while coordinating multi-disciplinary interfaces. You’ll mentor junior engineers and help build strong client relationships. This opportunity lets you shape water projects across major infrastructure settings within a sustainable, global practice.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to engineering design for UK water sector projects
- Plan design work and deliverables with civil and MEICA teams
- Develop and technically assure designs using relevant software and calculations
- Ensure compliance with local and international standards
- Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical and process interfaces
- Mentor junior team members and support graduate engineers
- Build relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Act as a technical link between senior leads and junior/international teams
Key requirements
- Degree in civil or mechanical engineering
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
- Experience in civil/structural or mechanical systems design in the water sector
- Solid understanding of water-based systems (pressurised mains, pumping stations, treatment works)
- Experience with hydraulic modelling of pipe networks and steady/transient analysis
- Knowledge of pipe support and stress calculations
- Experience in design/specification of mechanical equipment in water/wastewater (pumps, screens, valves, etc.)
- Experience with pressure pipeline systems and surge considerations
- Awareness of hazardous area classification and regulations (DSEAR advantageous)
- Exposure to other mechanical equipment (lifting, gates, building services) advantageous
- Experience with 3D and BIM design
- Knowledge of Water Industry Specifications (WIMES)
- Experience applying CDM2015 regulations to design tasks
- Experience with design and build projects (designer on site)
