Overview

In this Lead Software Engineering role, you will design, build and support low-latency, high-volume algorithmic trading systems in Java, collaborating with trading, quant and IT teams. You’ll enhance trading engines, tools and the data/signals that drive market-making and hedging strategies. You’ll work through the full SDLC, delivering scalable solutions that meet business needs in a fast-moving environment. This is a chance to influence architecture and toolsets while contributing to Morgan Stanley’s trading platform and competitive edge.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance trading strategies and engines using core Java
  • Collaborate with trading, quant and IT teams to advance the platform
  • Develop and deploy automated trading systems and analytics tools
  • Improve execution performance and data/signal generation
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment
  • Maintain low-latency, scalable, and resilient systems
  • Communicate opportunities for improvement to product leads

Key requirements

  • Core Java (20+) knowledge in on-prem UNIX/Linux environments
  • Experience with automated trading systems, market-making and hedging in liquid markets
  • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into engineered solutions
  • Logical problem solving and strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork
  • Git/Stash and Jenkins experience
  • Unit testing with frameworks such as JUnit
  • Good Linux fundamentals
  • Willingness to learn the businesses supported by the applications
