Overview

In this role you will drive outpatient transformation within the Improvement Delivery Team to deliver high-impact patient access, experience and flow improvements. You will support the Programme Director for Elective Improvement, coordinating with clinical, operational and corporate teams to implement evidence-based solutions. The role focuses on complex health system change, tackling unwarranted variation and preparing for new IT implementations, with a track record of delivering measurable benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate outpatient transformation projects from design to delivery
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational and corporate teams to identify opportunities and develop practical, evidence-based solutions
  • Support adoption of national GIRFT guidance and best practices
  • Embed clinical triage and strengthen primary-secondary care interfaces
  • Address process variation to improve efficiency, productivity and resource utilization
  • Design and implement demand management initiatives
  • Support readiness for new EPR implementation (April-27)
  • Provide regular progress reporting and disseminate learning across the Trust
  • Set up programme/workstream plans and governance to deliver on time, budget, and scope
  • Organise workshops to solve problems and secure stakeholder buy-in

Key requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Project management qualification or equivalent
  • Improvement qualification or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Significant healthcare management experience with change management
  • Experience delivering large-scale improvement projects with tangible benefits (including financial)
  • Experience modelling complex data sets and providing clear outputs
  • Staff management experience (objective setting, appraisals, recruitment, disciplinary)
  • Budget management experience with cost reduction and corrective action
  • Experience in report writing and presenting to business cases and formal presentations
  • Strategic planning experience with benefits realisation and financial aspects
  • Experience of change management tools and methodologies
  • Familiarity with basic IT applications
  • Desirable: experience in financial management; operational role experience
